VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Advocates for Excellence seeks a number of local volunteers to assist in the development of a Cooperative in Whittier that will serve as a model for setting up more Cooperatives in western North Carolina. Several volunteers are needed for administrative functions and developing Manuals.

• Interior Building Remodeling - Experienced carpentry, plumbing, and carpeting skills to remodel the interior of the building for the Cooperative.
• Fundraising - Experience in grant writing, foundation research and fund raising events.
• Employment and Business Facilitators - Business people to be Workshop Facilitators for greater employ-ability or starting a micro-business.
• e-commerce web mall designer - Experience with web site design with emphasis on e-commerce elements including marketing, pricing, product description, digital photography, and online payment elements.
• Development and Administrative functions - Experience in developing an educational Cooperative focused on employment skills, entrepreneurship, and learning computer skills. Must be capable of documenting the process in simple, understandable terms for others to be able to duplicate. Experience in 501(c)(3) nonprofit management a plus.
• Retail Thrift Store Management - Background in retailing, store management, sales, marketing, recondition sale items or create other products and teaching others same skills is desirable.
